In January 1967, Jeff Johnson opened a running specialty store, Blue Ribbon Sports, in Santa Monica, CA.

As the first of its kind, BRS was a safe haven for runners exploring the unknown terrain of a quickly evolving sport. Here runners were welcome to talk training, racing, footwear needs or simply shoot the shit - all without an expectation of shoe purchase.

In January 2019, Nike reopened BRS as a community space for local runners to gather, just as they did back in the day — with the consumer first, product second mindset. In partnership with Nike, we led the acquisition and remodel of the BRS space, leading strategic programming and execution, consumer outreach, and general operations.
